Pours an amber color with a fizzy head that dissipates quickly. Much easier drinking than one would expect from a 13.4%. This quad has plenty of sweet malty notes with some sour from the cherry and a bit of brown sugar and caramel. This is Cabernet Sauvignon barrel-aged, which adds a bit of oak and helps to round out the beer. I do wish there was more flavor from the barrels, though you do get a tinge of tannin flavor from the cab. Overall, Wicked Weed has managed to produce another great beer with a medium body. It doesn’t leave us saying “oh my god!” like some of the other Wicked Weed beers but nonetheless we are still fans.
