This uniquely named beer caught my eye on the shelf and when I saw that it was from Hi-Wire Brewing I was even more excited about trying it. It pours a very dark brown with a thick medium brown head that slowly thins to a thin layer of foam. There is a lot of coffee and dark chocolate on the nose. Too of my favorite things so this stout would have to try hard to fail me now. It is full bodied with burning carbonation and a bitter coffee finish. I would expect the alcohol to be higher than 8% as you can taste a bit of booze. Still it is not overwhelming and works well with the structure of the beer. This is a great stout for a cold winter evening as it packs rich coffee and chocolate flavors smoothed out with a bit of vanilla. Upon inspection of the can I found out it was brewed with Dynamite Roasting Company and French Broad Chocolates two of my favorite hometown spots. I love that I am supporting multiple local companies while enjoying a delicious brew. I typically enjoy my beers like I like myself: Dark, bitter and filled with booze. So if you’re a fan of similar things, we’d probably be friends and you should probably check this beer out for yourself.
