Green Man Brewery was the first beer I ever associated with Asheville. I remember being a teen eating cheese fries at Jack of the Wood watching all the “cool kids” drinking Green Man at the bar and thinking I’ll never be 21. (At 16 it felt so far away) Now I get upset that I never get ID’d at the beer store. When I saw the bright blue can of Wayfarer IPA I had to grab one and I’m so glad I did. From the foam I was expecting it to be highly carbonated, but it is actually very smooth and clean. It pours a light golden color and is light to medium bodied. Still there is a well-balanced amount of light hops, citrus, pineapple and pine. It is not a very hoppy IPA, but has great flavor. I tend to prefer hoppier IPAs (I know I know I’m one of those people), but this is such a crushable IPA (6%) that I will definitely be enjoying this again.
