Black Angel from WW is a black sour ale on tart cherries aged in bourbon barrels. I'll start this post off by saying this is one of my favorite beers. I remember the first time I tried it at Wicked Weed a couple of years ago like it was yesterday. A man at the bar asked if I had tried it right after I ordered a glass and I said no. He asked if I liked bourbon, “Of course” I replied and cherries? “Yes” Let this warm up a bit and it’ll be perfect. He said, as the bartender handed me my glass. Well he was right, it’s perfect. It is of course best when you can get it on draft at the taproom, but if you aren’t lucky enough to experience it on tap it bottles extremely well. You get that tinge of sour cherries on the front end, but the finish is much smoother with a hint of bourbon. It’s great for a cold winter night as it is darker and that 7.2% abv helps warm you right up. But it is by no means a heavy stout that fills you up after a couple of sips. So you can most definitely finish the 500 ml bottle without getting a stomach ache. Or if you're a better person than I it's a perfect size to split with a friend.
