For some Holiday Cheer you can't go wrong with Green Man's Holly King. This barrel aged holiday ale is perfect for a night by the fire with your loved ones. It pours with a bit of foam that dissipates and leaves a thin veil. It's medium bodied with medium carbonation and a decent amount of oak and vanilla from the barrel aging. I was a fan of this holiday ale because sometimes I think breweries just throw spices into an ale trying to make it festive and that doesn't really work for me. Sorry not sorry. But, Green Man of course knows what they are doing and while this definitely has hints of caramel, chocolate, fruittobacco it's very drinkable with just enough spice to make it feel like the holidays and not like I'm drinking potpourri. Plus at 9.8% it's strong enough to get you through family time yet not too boozy that you miss Christmas Dinner.
